2FA Authentication Methods
Posted by , Last modified by Matt Trimby on 07 Dec 2020 17:37hrs

Each user has the option to select 3 methods to authenticate.

Email - can be a personal email or @mod.gov.uk - you must be able to access the email address selected. Please check all folders as well as the SPAM/Junk for the email token.

If you are accessing the Defence Gateway via MoDnet you are not required to authenticate as this is already marked as a trusted device.

SMS - Should you wish to use this this method you will need to enter the mobile in the following format - drop the 0 from the mobile number and prefix +44 before the 7. If your device is registered in another Country you will need to prefix their code. Your mobile device must have adequate Network Coverage and that your Network does not have an outage to receive the OTP codes.

QR Code - downloaded from your devices App store - the following have been tested by the DGW Team OTP, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticatior - there are other Apps you can download, these have not been tested by the Defence Gateway Technical Team.

Authy is one that we have tried and tested which will not work with our application.
