MS authenticator
Posted by , Last modified by Matt Trimby on 06 Jan 2021 11:51hrs

The MS authenticator application is no longer available to use as a method authentication and has now been removed from our list of applications.

After carrying our extensive testing our developer confirmed the MS authenticator app no longer works with the Defence Gateway 2FA.

For those who have used the MS authenticator and token fails, you will be required to reset your 2FA options.

There are 3 methods to authenticate.

Email - can be a personal email or @mod.gov.uk  - you must be able to access the email address selected.  Please check all folders as well as the SPAM/Junk for the email token.

If you are accessing the Defence Gateway via MoDnet you are not required to authenticate as this is already marked as a trusted device.

SMS - Should you wish to use this this method you will need to enter the mobile in the following format - drop the 0 from the mobile number and prefix +44 before the 7.   If your device is registered in another Country you will need to prefix their code.   Your mobile device must have adequate Network Coverage and that your Network does not have an outage to receive the OTP codes.

QR Code – uses an App downloaded from your devices App store - the following have been tested by the DGW Team.

Google Authenticator and Open OTP

Authy and Microsoft Authenticator do not work. There are other Apps you can download, these have not been tested with our application.

We recommend that you use the Google Authenticator application in future.
